Privacy Practices

This page outlines Mid-Iowa Community Action, Inc. (MICA)’s privacy policy regarding the nature, purpose, use, and sharing of any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) collected via this website. Our privacy policy explains our practices when you provide this information to us, whether collected online or offline, or when you visit us online to browse, obtain information, or conduct a transaction. PII may include: your name, email, mailing and/or home address, phone numbers, or other information that identifies you personally. We do not require you to register or provide personal information to visit our website. The PII you provide on this website will be used only for its intended purpose.

What is personally identifiable information (PII) and when does MICA collect it?

Personally identifiable information (PII) is any information that can be used to identify you, either directly or indirectly. This may include your name, address, phone number, email, etc. MICA does not collect PII about you when you visit our website, unless you choose to provide such information to us. Submitting PII through our website is voluntary. By doing so, you are giving MICA your permission to use the information for the stated purpose. There may be some instances in which providing MICA your information is necessary to conduct certain interactions, for example, program enrollment.

If you choose to provide us with PII through our website, such as when completing a web form or sending us an email, we will use that information to help us provide you the information or service you have requested or to respond to your message. The information we may receive from you varies based on what you do when visiting our site.

Email

Several of our webpages allow you to send us a message or email, or you can choose to do so using our general agency contact email (info@micaonline.org) listed on the home page of our site. We will use the information you provide to respond to your inquiry and will only send you general information via email. Be aware that email may not necessarily be secure against interception. Therefore, we suggest that you do not send sensitive personal data (such as your Social Security number or card) to us via email. If your intended email communication is very sensitive, or includes information such as your energy bill, credit card, bank information, or Social Security number, consider delivering it directly to the staff member you are working with instead of through a general contact email. Donation forms that we use on the site are processed through a secure transaction link, and not through email.

MICA complies with the CAN-SPAM act of 2003. We do not engage in sending you email without your opt-in and consent. An example would be signing up for our email list on our website. We do not sell or share your email address with any third party. You can opt out of any messaging you have previously opted in to at any point.

Security

MICA is committed to make sure that the information you share with us is secure. MICA has electronic privacy policies that govern how the organization uses and exchanges your information for business purposes. In general, we do not share your information with third parties without your explicit, written consent. If you engage in one of MICA’s programs, you will be provided with a Confidentiality and Privacy Practices notice that will describe in further detail how your information is handled, stored, and destroyed.

All transactions made on our website (ex: through our donation page) are securely encrypted and are processed through Bloomerang’s Stripe payment processor.

Text/Phone Privacy

When you provide MICA with your phone or mobile number through our website, you can expect that your phone number will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing and promotional purposes. We may contact you using your provided phone number for business purposes according to the original intent in which it was shared with us. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
