Iowa Nutrition Network School Grant Program/Pick a Better SnackTM

MICA provides INNSGP services in the Marshalltown Community School District. Through our partnership with the district, we are able to introduce children to nutritious foods they may not normally eat on a regular basis. The curriculum includes foods like bell peppers, kiwi, squash, avocado, garbanzo beans, and other fruits and vegetables. Pick a Better Snack TM lessons are provided to children in Kindergarten through third grade.

Did you know? Throughout Iowa, the INNSGP program reaches nearly 24,000 students a year!

INNSGP also performs outreach, teaching students and families about the importance of exercise, balanced nutrition, and exploring healthy foods. This includes recipes and suggestions, coloring pages, family newsletters, and more.
